The Aviary Suite

We needed a quiet place to stay while one of us attended a conference at NRAO on the UVa campus. The Aviary Suite was large and well equipped. Everything we needed for our weeks stay was in place when we arrived, and we did not need to ask for anything else during our week stay. We cooked most of our meals in the large kitchen. We are birders and there were many interesting species on the property. I have a bat echo sound recorder, and there were many species of bats at night (probably in part due to the Rivanna River nearby). We would definitely stay there again.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Aviary. The house was lovely, and the property was beautiful! And it was easily accessible to UVA by car and close to food and gas. Most importantly, the cranberry nut bread left by the host was amazing and well received after a long journey :-) We would love to come back and stay there again sometime.

The best, by far, rental we have experienced! We are looking forward to our return. The place is incredible and extremely well-maintained. The owners, Watts & Butch, could not be more friendly and welcoming. They are even more awesome than The Aviary Suite!!!

Five stars is not enough for this wonderful apartment I Originally booked this for my daughter's 2020 UVa graduation, which was pushed back a year. Since this place looked so nice online, we decided to keep the reservation and just visit C'Ville for the weekend. The pictures do not do this place justice. The apartment is very cozy and well appointed. Watts is great with communicating information and is a tremendous host.

The views and landscape are wonderful. It's a very peaceful property. The owners are very accommodating and helpful. The apartment is well appointed. The open layout with all the scenic views are amazing. When you raise the windows you can hear the baby lambs and goats from the field across the way. Very sweet. Birds watching was a relaxing past time. The kitchen has everything thing you need just like home. Comfortable furnishings. I love sitting outside watching the deer wonder by just feet from my chair. This guest house has been one of my favorites.

Our family of 4 stayed in the wonderful property for 4 nights while we availed ourselves of all Charlottesville had to offer. It's hard to capture just how charming and comfortable this apartment is. First, it is conveniently located to everything. We couldn't believe our luck to find such a bucolic setting so centrally located. Second, the apartment itself is delightfully clean and well-appointed. It has just the right blend of luxury and farmhouse charm. The apartment is over the garage and accessible up a flight of stairs which may not be suitable for small children, but our children our older, so we had no problems with access or safety, plus the second floor affords wonderful light and views of the surrounding scenery. The hosts were incredibly thoughtful in their communications before and during our stay -- considerate but without being intrusive. The children loved exploring the property. And the property also hit all the marks on the basics - the beds were comfortable; all the rooms were well lit; the kitchen had everything we needed to make meals; the bathroom was spacious and the shower had plenty of water pressure and hot water; the wifi was stable. In short, it was a perfect retreat, and we can't wait to go back!

The Aviary Suite was everything we hoped for - a well appointed apartment, plenty of indoor and outdoor space away from people, and a short drive to downtown and wineries. The hosts were also amazing. We were greeted with a homemade baked good and a handwritten note to welcome us. We loved everything about our stay!

We had a very nice stay at this charming guesthouse recently - very friendly, welcoming owners! Property is located a bit far off from downtown Charlottesville, but as long as you have a car, that's not a big deal. Also, it is super silent, which is a plus when coming from DC ;) Would definitely recommend others to stay here.

The Aviary is a special place, so comfortable and charming. I absolutely loved the interior design! Everywhere I looked, from the collection of bird paintings to the duck motif carved into the arms of the rocking chair, there was a feast for the eyes. Wishing you and your family all the best!

Enjoyed a week at this delightful property in Charlottesville. The location was ideal--on a beautiful, quiet property in the country, but only minutes to town and convenient to area attractions. The unit was spotless, light, roomy and very comfortable. The owners were a joy to work with, too. Hope to return soon and would definitely recommend this property to others.

I rented this lovely apartment for 3 months as I was a travel nurse at UVA. It was my home away from home. The apartment was beautifully decorated and very homey. It had all the amenities I needed. I was very comfortable there and it was close to everything. The owners Butch and Watts were very welcoming and addressed all my needs. I would definitely recommend this apartment and stay there again if I am every in the area!
